Maya and I met at the Goshen Farmer’s Market last summer where she offered POP-UP POETRY. It was a big decision, and she had to be brave. “I had to decide, “I’m going to do this! And I have to be okay with other people seeing my work and not worrying about the outcome.” Maya had a positive experience with her POP-UP POETRY.

Through her poetry, Maya is offering a gift to people. The human connection of poetry.

Listen as Maya and her mom, Brynda talk about their family affair of being creative, supporting and encouraging Maya by creating space at home for her to try new things and take off with her creative endeavors. Maya is a good student, jewelry maker, embroiderer, she crochets and has competed in “Poetry Out Loud.” With the support of her family, Maya is learning to OWN her creativity.
