Last summer at the Billy Joel/Sting concert, I looked over and spotted this darling person on the ground in front of an entire section moving her hands, swaying her body and singing. Turns out she was interpreting for the deaf community. Lo Freeman of Lo’s Communicate Plus, LLC is a sign language interpreter, who has been interpreting for over forty years. Listen as Pam and Lo discuss how music can be interpreted so that deaf people can feel the and see the music. While interpreting has changed over the years, Lo knew early on that she wanted to represent music visually, she wanted to sign how a piano or a guitar sounds. Lo and many others incorporated that into their musical interpretation, and it took off. To the delight of Pam, a total fan girl, Lo shares many experiences including rocking out with Tommy Shaw of Styx.
